The LA Shoe Bomb Plot
Under the plot, the hijackers were to use shoe bombs to blow open the cockpit door of a commercial jetliner, take control of the plane and crash it into the Library Tower in Los Angeles, since renamed the US Bank Tower, Bush said. In his remarks, Bush inadvertantly referred to the site as “Liberty Tower,” and immediately afterward, the White House corrected him.

Here's some food for thought.

Doesn't this imply that Richard Reid, the shoe bomber was not acting alone on flight 63, where he was captured? After all, if your plan is to use a shoe bomb to blow open the cockpit door, the process of blowng the door open will kill the guy with the shoe bomb almost instantly. That means there has to be a second guy to then take control of the plane in order to fly it into a building--and a third guy (at least) to provide some sort of security so that the second guy piloting the plane isn't overpowered.

Richard Reid was the only one arrested--which means at least two terrorists went free from that incident.

One also has to wonder what tall building in Miami they intended to blow up--since that was the destination of the flight Richard Reid was on. Perhaps they were going to destroy the Four Seasons Hotel & Tower, the tallest building in Miami?
